What awaits the mining industry and geology of Uzbekistan

During the joint meeting of the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis on Industry, Construction and Trade and the Senate Committee on Budget and Economic Reforms, the information of the Ministry of Mining and Geology on the creation of new jobs was heard.

It was noted that in recent years, a number of measures have been implemented in the country for a comprehensive geological study of the earth's crust, the development of a long-term mineral resource base and the effective implementation of a program to replenish its reserves, the rational use of underground resources.

The country has created and is constantly improving the legal framework for regulating relations in this area. These documents regulate the management of the mining industry and geology, including the expansion of the mineral resource base and the efficient use of underground resources.

According to the Ministry, in order to provide the mining industry and the field of geology with qualified personnel, a branch of the Russian MISIS University was established in 2018, a branch of the University of Geological Sciences in 2020, a branch of the University of Pisa in Italy in 2021, and the Navoi State University of Mining and Technology in 2022.

Today, more than 122 thousand workers and employees are active in the Ministry's system. As a result of consistent and systemic reforms to be implemented during 2024-2030, the number of workers and employees working in the field of geology, mining and metallurgy will reach 206 thousand people.

During the active discussion, it was emphasized that the integration of education, science and innovative solutions within a single system should become the main task and direction of the ministries' activities in the future.

Following the meeting, a joint decision was made by the committees of the Chambers of Parliament.
