Uzbek delegation discusses development of healthcare cooperation with Afghanistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) - A delegation from Uzbekistan, headed by Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Davron Vakhabov, met with the Minister of Health of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Mawlawi Nur Jalol Jaloli.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed the possibilities of deepening cooperation in the healthcare sector, focusing on the pharmaceutical and dental industries, as well as the implementation of joint projects.
The Afghan side proposed to create a center in the city of Termez to train specialists in the field of dentistry, expand dental services to the population and open about 20 branches. This proposal was supported, as it is intended to significantly improve the health of citizens and solve numerous dental problems.
In addition, key issues in the pharmaceutical sector were discussed. In particular, entrepreneurs proposed reducing the period for registering medicines in Afghanistan from six to one month, as well as introducing a system of permits for one-time import of medicines. The Minister of Health of Afghanistan fully supported the proposed initiatives.
In such conditions, taking into account the high quality of products and competitive prices, great prospects are opening up for Uzbek pharmaceutical companies in the Afghan market. Taking all factors into account, it can be confidently expected that by the end of the year the volume of exports to Afghanistan will exceed 50 million dollars
