The Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Science, Education and Health examined the status of the work done to fulfill tasks related to the development of the pharmaceutical industry

This was reported by the information service of the upper house of parliament.

The working group visited the Ministry of Health and the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry, the state institution “Center for the Safety of Pharmaceutical Products”, specialized scientific and practical medical centers, as well as enterprises producing domestic drugs and got acquainted with the implementation of legislative acts related to the production of pharmaceuticals and medicines.

It was noted that currently 204 enterprises are engaged in pharmaceutical activities in the republic. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements have been introduced at 56 drug production facilities.

Pharmaceutical enterprises (for the production of medicines, medical devices and medical equipment) produce 3,922 types of products - 3,290 types of medicines, 468 types of medical products, 84 types of medical equipment and 80 types of substances.

In order to expand the availability of reference prices for medicines to the population, the “uzpharminfo” mobile application has been launched, which makes it possible to monitor online limited retail prices for medicines from April 1, 2023.

Attention is focused on the fact that some of the tasks specified in the “Road Map” for the further development of the pharmaceutical industry in 2022–2026, approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 21, 2022, have not been completed.

Post-marketing control has not been implemented in practice, that is, rules for post-marketing control of medicines have not been developed and approved.

The National Electronic Information Database “Pharmacological Surveillance” has not been created by regularly entering into it data obtained on the side effects of drugs.

Based on the results of the study, the Committee plans to hear information from the head of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry, the message noted.
