Japanese company Sugi Holdings is interested in building a pharmaceutical plant in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) - On April 9, 2025, a meeting with the President of the Japanese company Sugi Holdings Katsunori Sugiura was held at the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, issues of using the company’s experience in managing large pharmacy chains, implementing preventive medical programs, and supplying Japanese medical products to Uzbekistan were discussed.
Katsunori Sugiura expressed interest in establishing a strategic partnership, including the implementation of a project to build a pharmaceutical plant in Uzbekistan, with the aim of meeting domestic demand and exporting products to neighboring countries.
The parties agreed on further cooperation in the implementation of the discussed projects with the appointment of a separate project manager from the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan.
Sugi Holdings was founded in 1976 and operates a group of pharmaceutical and medical companies. The holding company controls more than 2,500 stores and 14 major logistics centers in Japan, and its shares are listed on the Tokyo and Osaka stock exchanges.
