A meeting was held with representatives of GGGI

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz ) -- On January 31 of this year, the Ministry of Economy and Finance held a meeting with representatives of the Global Institute for Green Growth (GGGI). It was attended by specialists from the Department of the Ministry for the Coordination of Transition and Development of the "green" Economy, as well as GGGI representative in Uzbekistan Aaron Russell, project manager Gi Un Kim, investment specialist Catalina Garcia and a number of experts.

The meeting discussed issues of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and establishing their international trade, carbon trade, regulatory legal acts being developed, prospects for establishing cooperation with GGGI in these areas, a program to support the implementation of the National Fixed Contribution (VAT), developed under the Paris Agreement, and other areas of transition to a "green" economy.

In addition, the provision on the introduction of climate-friendly agriculture ("Climate—smart agriculture") - "investment project for green rehabilitation" ("Aral Sea GRIP") for the Republic of Karakalpakstan was considered in order to eliminate the consequences of the Aral Sea crisis, introduce water-saving technologies, increase crop yields, restore canals.

There was also an exchange of views on such important issues as the development of the infrastructure of "green" cities – the circular economy, "green" construction, energy efficiency of buildings.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to further develop cooperation and intensify consultations on planned projects.
