Uzbekistan's demand for polyethylene has increased almost one and a half times

According to the newspaper "UZEX News", from January to December 10, 2021, 145.4 thousand tons of polyethylene pellets were sold to the domestic market through exchange trading, which is by 45.2% more than in the corresponding period of 2020.

The market structure is traditionally dominated by film and injection molded polyethylene. Their share was 39% and 20%, respectively. Blown polyethylene is in third place, the share of which is 18%, the specific weight of pipe polyethylene is 16%. The share of the brand of injectable polyethylene is at the level of 4%.

The price trend for all brands of polyethylene showed mainly an upward trend. So, if in January the prices amounted to 12.2 million soums per ton, then the April quotes increased to 16.5 million soums.

In June, quotations rose to 16.7 million soums per ton, in September - 17.2 million, in October prices rose to 17.7 million soums per ton.

By December 10, the price dropped to 17.2 million. soums per ton. The price increase since the beginning of the year was 41%.

The volume of polyethylene exports during this period amounted to 18.2 thousand tons. The highest figure was recorded in February — 7.5 thousand tons of polymer products were sold to foreign markets.

In terms of the structure of the purchase of polyethylene by region, Tashkent and the Tashkent region are leading with a total share of 49%. The share of the Samarkand region increased from 5% to 17% compared to the same period last year. The share of the Ferghana region, on the contrary, decreased from 20% to 10%. Namangan and Andijan regions occupy 5% of the market each. The shares of other regions are relatively lower, writes the publication of the Uzbek Republican Commodity Exchange.
